Homework

Homework is handed out on a Wednesday to be returned on a Monday, in homework books.

Homework should be of the same standard as in school - use a ruler and a black pen. If you need any of these, please ask.
- Homework this year will be completed entirely in books; this way, we can avoid any potential technology issues!
- Your child's homework sheet will be stuck on the left-hand side, and tasks are to be completed on the right.
- There will be a reading task, a maths task to complete, and a spelling list to practice - we will then look at the spellings in school time.
- If there are any issues, try to notify Year 4 staff before the end of Thursday, to ensure homework can be completed on time.
If homework is not completed, your child will be at a disadvantage because we use it to support our learning in school.
! Year 4 Multiplication check - June 2026 !
This summer, Year 4 will be taking part in the National Multiplication Check. This will take place over a two week period. The check requires the children to use a computer or tablet to complete 25 random times table questions, with six seconds allowed to answer each question.
Knowledge of times tables to a point where a child has almost instant recall, enables them to apply this understanding of new concepts and areas of maths, such as fractions, division, geometry and percentages. It is one of the most important pieces of foundational knowledge for children to master in mathematics.
To support this, we would like to ask for your help. Learning times tables relies heavily on exposure and practice. While Year 4 are practising daily in school, the more opportunities they have to practice, the quicker and more confident they will become.

General Information
PE this half term will be on Wednesday and Thursdays. We will start with gymnastics (with Miss Harper) as our main session and dance as our additional session.
Please come to school with your PE kit, which should consist of black shorts, a plain white PE T-shirt, and trainers.
Children may bring a water bottle/ flask to keep in class and drink from throughout the day.
