Welcome to Year 6
In Year 6, we are taught by Mr Reid, Miss O'Neill, and Mrs Campbell
We love to learn and enjoy working hard. We study a range of topics and read some fantastic books! We are always looking to improve our learning and are amazing at working together. Below is information about what we are learning, our homework, and general information (letters and PE days!)
Year 6 Curriculum Overview
SATs
SATs will be held over the week beginning 11th May.
Over the next few week, we will be continuing to revisit key concepts and areas of maths and SPaG which we have found tricky. With this in mind, can you please support us in encouraging your child to engage with any additional practice which is sent home. Please feel free to speak to us if you have any specific concerns or would like ideas of how to support your child's learning at home.
Homework
-
Homework is given on a Wednesday and should be returned on a Monday; it should be completed in your homework book.
-
Homework should be of the same standard as in school - use a ruler and a blue or black pen. If you need any of these, please ask your teacher.
-
You will have a weekly Spelling task. You will have a weekly spelling test linked to this task.
-
Should you need any support, please speak to your teacher BEFORE FRIDAY.
If homework is not completed, you will be at a disadvantage because we use it to support our learning in school.

Guided Reading: Street Child
This half term, we will be reading Street Child by Berlie Doherty. Children have been given a book to take home, in order to complete guided reading homework. These books have been numbered so that they can be collected once we have finished reading the book. Please ensure that your child brings their book to school every day as we use it for Guided Reading in class.
General Information
PE: Wednesday and Friday
Please come to school with your PE kit, which should include black shorts, a plain white PE T-shirt, and trainers.
